The company that turns water vapor in the air into drinking water formed a bond with Lujiazui through the China International Import Expo (CIIE). During the 2nd CIIE in 2019, Watergen, a subsidiary of Israel's BIE Group, exhibited its high-tech air water generator, which can extract drinking water from the air through complex technology to provide high-quality water solutions for water-scarce areas. 

The product caused a sensation at the CIIE, becoming a "web-famous exhibit" and attracting attention from over 300 potential clients and agents. After the CIIE, with the assistance of the Lujiazui Administration Bureau, Watergen signed a foreign investment project with the Lujiazui Administration Bureau of Pudong New Area, Shanghai. In January 2020, the company decided to locate its trading company in Lujiazui.

 On August 13 of the same year, BIE China - Binyi (Shanghai) Industrial Co., Ltd. completed its registration in Shanghai. The company chose Lujiazui not only for its superior geographical location but also because the Lujiazui Administration Bureau demonstrated extremely high efficiency in the company's registration process. The registration was completed within two days after the materials were prepared, and supporting services such as recommended banks were also fully in place. Since then, Watergen has accelerated its layout in China. 

In October 2020, the BIE Group and a Shanghai-based foreign-funded enterprise engaged in the drinking water manufacturing industry jointly invested in the establishment of a production-oriented joint venture, Binfeng Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., in Nanxun, Zhejiang. It also acquired industrial land in Nanxun to build a Chinese production base for projects including Watergen under the Group.
